International adoption is an ideal option for many adoptive families wishing to adopt young children. Healthy infants and toddlers are available for adoption from China, the Philippines, Korea, Russia, and other countries. The adoption process, costs, timeframe, and criteria for adoptive parents varies by country. Catholic Charities works as the home-based agency that provides the training, home study and post-placement supervision for parents pursuing an international adoption. The adopting family also works with an international agency that has direct connections with the foreign country for matching and placement of their child. If the family chooses to work with one of the international agencies with whom we have a networking agreement, we can also assist with preparation of the dossier.
To begin working with Catholic Charities, prospective parents are asked to complete an Adoption Intake Form indicating their interest in international adoption. The International Adoption Social Worker will then contact you to schedule an orientation meeting to discuss the adoption process and answer any questions or concerns.
