Catholic Charities Adoption Services is a non-profit adoption agency that serves the Diocese of Harrisburg, which includes 15 counties in Central Pennsylvania. Since 1938, Catholic Charities has assisted birthparents, adoptive families, and children by facilitating adoptions that meet the needs of all three members of the adoption triad. Catholic Charities Adoption Services believes in the innate dignity and value of every human life and that every child is entitled to an environment in which he or she is loved and accepted unconditionally. We are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children.


Specialized Foster Care

Catholic Charities Specialized Foster Care is a private foster family care provider placing abused, neglected, or troubled children who are in the custody of County Children and Youth agencies. Our purpose is to provide a temporary, safe, nurturing home for children who have been separated from their families by the court. If a child cannot be returned home, a plan for an alternative permanent placement is developed. Adoption is often an appropriate plan for children who cannot be returned home or placed with relatives. The Specialized Foster Care staff shares responsibility with the Adoption Services staff for matching and supporting available families with children in need. A foster family willing to be    available for a special needs adoption is called a “Resource Family". A per diem is available to assist in meeting the needs of these children.
