On June 22, 2010 it was announced that Pope Benedict XVI had named the Most Reverend Joseph P. McFadden, D.D. as the tenth Bishop of Harrisburg.
Bishop McFadden is a native of Philadelphia and served as a priest and Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia prior to his assignment to Harrisburg.
He was installed as Bishop of Harrisburg on August 18, 2010.
