The Catholic Church wants to hear candidly from youth and young adults on the topic of their faith. To do so the Diocese of Harrisburg and the Vatican have both released surveys. The responses will be incorporated into a working document for bishops when they gather next year at the Vatican. Links to the surveys are online at www.HbgDiocese.org/synod2018.
On Saturday, June 3, Bishop Ronald W. Gainer will ordain Joshua Cavender, Kevin Coyle and Michael Metzgar to the Priesthood. The service will begin at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Cathedral, 212 State Street, Harrisburg, PA. Bishop Gainer will be the principal celebrant and perform the Rite of Ordination during the Mass. The Ordination Mass will be streamed live on the Diocesan website at www.hbgdiocese.org/live.
The Bishops of Pennsylvania voted to approve a recommendation that each Catholic diocese and eparchy in the Commonwealth be dedicated to the protection of the Blessed Mother.
May 13 marks the 100th anniversary of the Blessed Mother’s first of several appearances of three children in Fatima, Portugal. The message from Fatima is to pray the Rosary in order to obtain peace for the world, the conversion of sinners and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Several diocesan parishes will host events celebrating the anniversary of the first apparition.
