Navigating Difficulties

Every marriage experiences difficulties, but you do not have to bear those burdens alone. If you, your spouse, or someone you care about is currently struggling in marriage, give us a call at the Office for Laity and Family. We will connect you to local resources and support, and keep you in our prayers. To join or start a local group, please check with your parish or contact us at the Office for Laity and Family.

Separation and Divorce

Retrouvaille is a lifeline for marriages……..a program to help couples heal and renew their hurting marriages. The word “Retrouvaille” is a French word meaning rediscovery. The program offers tools for couples in struggling or deeply strained marriages to rediscover a loving marital relationship.

The Retrouvaille program consists of a weekend experience combined with a series of optional but strongly recommended post-weekend sessions over three months. It provides the tools to help put your marriage in order again. The main emphasis of the program is on communication in marriage between husband and wife. It will give you the opportunity to rediscover each other and to examine your lives together in a new and positive way.

Retrouvaille weekends are held twice a year in the Diocese of Harrisburg.

Life-Giving Wounds helps adult children of divorce find healing and community.

Beginning Experience

Beginning Experience offers support and community for those suffering the loss of a spouse through death, separation, or divorce. Beginning Experience offers hope for a new beginning, a sense of community, and an opportunity for healing among those you can trust – people who have experienced a similar loss. During the weekend, a team of adults who have experienced the loss of a spouse will lead participants through a series of presentations, private reflections, and small group sharing.

The Tribunal provides guidance and recourse to those who are civilly divorced and wish to better understand the Church’s teaching on divorce and remarriage as well as explore the possibility for declaring a marriage null.

Surviving Divorce is a program that offers small groups to find hope and healing after separation and divorce.
