The Communications Office of the Diocese of Harrisburg works for the Bishop to ensure a clear, consistent message is delivered regarding the work of the Diocese, its offices and ministries, and the local Catholic Church.
About Our Office
This office manages the Diocesan website, The Catholic Witness digital newspaper, social media, Diocesan podcast and radio messages, statements from the Bishop or Diocese, and responses to media requests. This office also develops and oversees the strategic communication initiatives in the Dioceses’ Strategic Plan, and provides communications, marketing and public relations support to all Diocesan parishes and schools.
All media requests for interviews, photographs, access to Diocesan churches or property, and information about the mission of the Church can be arranged by contacting Rachel Bryson, Executive Director of Public Relations.
The Office for Communications serves all constituents in the Diocese of Harrisburg, including the bishop, diocesan center staff and ministries, parishes and schools, and affiliated ministries and programs.
- Assist the bishop in his communication ministry with the faithful of the diocese.
- Develop and execute communication initiatives that support the initiatives and goals of the bishop and diocesan offices.
- Assist the diocesan center offices with their communication needs.
- Manage the social media and digital presence of the diocese.
- Develop and produce short and longer form videos for the bishop and diocesan center offices and ministries.
- Develop and produce the weekly diocesan radio program, Candid Catholic Convos.
- Act as the primary media spokesperson for the diocese and the primary point of contact for crisis communications.
- Provide media consultation to parishes and schools as needed.
- Oversee the operation of The Catholic Witness and The Catholic Witness Magazine.
