Praying for the Homebound
The John Paul II Prayer Community is a prayer ministry for persons in the Diocese of Harrisburg who, because of illness or disability, are confined to home, a nursing home or other residential facility.
It seeks to unite these parishioners into one confraternity to offer prayers, joys and sufferings to God for specific intentions and needs of the Catholic Church. Pastors who want their parish to participate in this ministry are sent letters of invitation for their homebound parishioners. Once a parishioner enrolls, he or she will receive an enrollment prayer card and will be sent prayer intentions on a quarterly basis.
Membership in the John Paul II Prayer Community requires a simple commitment to daily prayer for specific intentions. The hope is that those who enroll will realize how much the Church, diocese and parish needs their prayers and how vital those prayers are in the service of Christ.
