The Problem with Pornography

Pornography has long been a problem, but in recent years our exposure to it has grown exponentially. From the internet to mobile devices, to the “soft” porn often seen in movies, TV, and advertising, it can seem like porn is everywhere.

Moreover, the effect of pornography is felt throughout our culture: men, women, and children exploited within the porn industry; millions of users who commit grave sin and risk harming important relationships to use porn; and spouses and children who are often put at risk by the habit – the effects of pornography are pervasive.

Yet just as the effect of pornography has spread, so has the effort of the Church, psychologists, and social scientists to shine a light on the damaging nature of pornography and to provide resources to help people in need.
