Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Resources for an Authentically Catholic Program

Many of the parishes in the Diocese of Harrisburg have Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs. This can be an excellent vehicle for evangelization and for the on-going catechesis of our young students during the summer months. At the same time, these programs can be a lot of fun for the kids!

In accordance with Diocesan policy, please make certain that all of the steps have been implemented regarding the Diocese of Harrisburg’s Youth Protection Program for all of your catechetical programs, including Summer / Vacation Bible School programs. You can access the Diocesan Youth Protection page from the home page of the Diocesan website.

All catechetical personnel and team members are to have on file at the parish all of the necessary background clearances, a signed copy of the Employee/Volunteer Information and Disclosure Statement, and the required web-based safe environment training for adults before they assist in these programs.

It is important that we provide the children in VBS programs with authentically Catholic programs and resources. We recommend the materials listed below. Of course, some parishes may wish to create their own Catholic VBS program and we certainly do not discourage that.
