Sister Rita O’Leary, IHM, died peacefully at Camilla Hall in Immaculata, Pa., on Feb. 25. She was 85 years old.
Formerly known as Sister Rita Regina, she was born on Aug. 31, 1935.
Sister Rita’s ministry in Catholic education touched the lives of countless people. She served as a teacher and as Director of Advancement at her alma mater, Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, and at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School in Coal Township.
In addition to her congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Sister Rita is survived by her brothers Joseph Francis, John Thomas, Jerome Michael and Raymond Timothy, and her loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, James Pierce O’Leary and Emma Elizabeth O’Leary (Hatton), and her brother James Pierce O’Leary, Jr.
