Rachel’s Vineyard is an intimate spiritual journey, through a weekend retreat experience, for anyone seeking healing after an abortion. The time away provides an opportunity for participants to enter more deeply into the grieving process and experience the power of resurrection in their own lives.
The retreat is open to persons of all faiths. It includes discussions, spiritual exercises, prayer services, Mass, and, for Catholics, the opportunity for the Sacrament of Penance.
Typically Rachel’s Vineyard weekends begin on Friday evening and run until Sunday late afternoon/early evening. The time away provides an opportunity for participants to enter more deeply into the grieving process, find meaning in what has happened, and allow God to transform the experience into something that gives hope, consolation and peace.
There are typically 10-12 participants on each weekend. The small group allows each participant time for sharing and processing the exercises together.
There is a retreat team consisting of a facilitator, a licensed counselor, a priest, and other support volunteers, many of whom have been a part of previous Rachel’s Vineyard retreats and know firsthand the suffering that follows from an abortion.
