The past several seasons, the Crusaders of Bishop McDevitt have dominated at the Mid-Penn and District 3 Class 2A swimming championships. That dominance continued at this year’s District 3 meet, held at Central York High School, where the boys won the team championship again and the Crusaders’ relay teams won the 200-Freestyle, 200-Medley and 400-Freestyle, respectively. Individually, Patrick Hemingway won gold in the 100-backstroke and a silver in the 50-Freestyle. Lucas Hancock and Will Brobson won silvers in the 100-Freestyle and 100-Breaststroke.
Also in the boys’ competition, Trinity’s Harrison Ziegler won a silver in the grueling 500-yard Freestyle, and the ’Rocks won a silver in the 400-yard Freestyle relay, finishing just behind the Crusaders.
The Trinity girls’ team also had an excellent meet, as they won silver in the 200-Medley and 200-Freestyle relays. Sophomore Kari Powell won the 100-Breaststroke by nearly two seconds to win gold for Trinity. And senior Lily DiCarlo won silver in the 100-Backstroke.
