Girl Scouts in the Harrisburg Diocese

The purpose of the Harrisburg Diocesan Catholic Committee is to promote and encourage Catholic Girl Scouts to deepen their understanding of their faith through prepared programs with the aide of trained adults.

Our Catholic Girl Scouts believe in Jesus Christ and uphold the teachings and beliefs of the Catholic Church. Through the various emblems and badges our scouts can earn, these young women grow stronger in their faith and have an opportunity to learn more about Catholicism, allow them to develop a deeper relationship with God and a love for the Catholic Church.

Adult volunteers, who are vital to the success of our scouting programs, are also honored and recognized through various programs.

Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Juan Diego Program

The Diocesan Catholic Committee for Girl Scouts and Camp Fire (DCCGSCF) recently held a rescheduled workshop that was cancelled two years ago due to the COVID-19 Outbreak. Our program “Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Juan Diego” is a fun, kid-friendly program that tells the beautiful story of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Juan Diego.

When some scouts who originally signed up for the workshop could not make the rescheduled date, it occurred to the DCCGSCF that this program lends itself well to a “Do-It-Yourself” style program.  We have put together kits that we can send to you for a cost of $10/scout plus shipping. If you would like to lead your scout/s in this program, and have a computer with internet access, please reach out to our new email address, girlscouting@hbgdiocese.org.

St Joan of Arc Patch Program

This special patch for youth in grades K-12 was created in honor of the 100th anniversary of the St. Joan of Arc Parish in Hershey, PA. The patch activities are designed to teach participants about the life of St. Joan of Arc and her contributions to the faith. This patch program is designed to be completed independently or as a troop. A visit to St. Joan of Arc Parish is recommended, but not required to complete the patch.

The DCCGSCF has 2 positions annually for Youth Representatives.  Scouts must be an active member in Girl Scouts USA, Camp Fire USA or American Heritage Girls and apply annually.  The Youth Representative fills an important role in the planning and execution of Committee workshops and events. The Youth Representative term is July 1st – June 30th.

Representatives are expected to attend committee meetings, workshops and events, as well as serve as the DCCGSCF Representative on the Diocesan Youth Council when in session. This is an active leadership position.  For those interested in applying please complete the application and a letter of intent and submit it to the Committee Chair prior to June 1st at: girlscouting@hbgdiocese.org.

For more information please contact the DCCGSCF at girlscouting@hbgdiocese.org.
