HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Most Reverend Timothy C. Senior, Bishop of Harrisburg, released the following message to the Vietnamese Catholic Community for Tet, the Vietnamese New Year:
Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Vietnamese Catholic Community,
As the Vietnamese community gathers to celebrate Tết Nguyên Đán, I am delighted to offer my heartfelt greetings and blessings to each of you and your families. May the New Year bring you renewed hope, abundant blessings, and the deep peace that comes from knowing God’s loving presence in your lives.
Tết is much more than a date on the calendar, it is a cherished time for gratitude, renewal, and honoring the rich traditions of family, faith, and tradition. As you gather with loved ones to celebrate, I pray that the spirit of Tet inspires each of you to strengthen family bonds, remember your ancestors, and deepen your commitment to love and service. May the Lord bless your homes with harmony, health, and joy, and may He guide you as you give thanks for the blessings of the past year and look forward with trust and confidence in God’s providence for the year ahead. As you welcome the new year, remember God’s enduring presence in your lives, guiding you through moments of joy and challenge alike. In your celebrations, may you find renewed purpose in the light of Christ.
The Diocese of Harrisburg is grateful for the vibrant gifts the Vietnamese community brings to our Church — your devotion to family, your reverence in worship, and your joyful witness of faith. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, under Her Title of our Lady of La Vang, continue to watch over you and intercede for you, that you may grow ever closer to Her Son and remain steadfast in faith and hope.
With prayerful best wishes for a joyful and blessed New Year, I wish you peace in your hearts and God’s abundant blessings throughout the year ahead. Please know that you are remembered in my prayers; please remember me in yours.
Chúc Mừng Năm Mới!
Sincerely in Christ,
Most Reverend Timothy C. Senior
Bishop of Harrisburg
